FindText 1.3.6 (FAT version) optimized for PPC and 68K Mac
What is FindText ?
FindText is a utility program that searches your files for specific text. It can search your 8000 Mb harddisk for that one file you’re looking for containing a specific name, subject, date, word, .... You can specify where it has to look in the file: the data fork, the resource fork or both.
Instead of manually opening all your documents and looking for a specific address let FindText do it for you (you probably will forget to open the document you are looking for because it is in a folder where it doesn’t belong and you don’t expect it to be there). It saves you a lot of time and boring work.
FindText can work in the background so you can let it do it’s work while you are doing more interesting stuff than watching the progressbar move.
System Requirements
FindText needs System 7. This is version 1.3.5 of FindText. It runs native both on a PowerMac and on a 68020 / 68030 / 68040 Mac. FindText does not run on a 68000 Mac (Plus, SE, Classic, PowerBook 100, ...). FindText is compatible with Mac OS 8.x.
FindText is shareware
FindText is shareware (US$ 20 for a single copie). When registering you will receive a password that disables the annoying shareware-messages and will work with all future updates of FindText.
You can register in two different ways:
1) via the author Patrick Maes (cash, Eurocheque in BEF, check / only via postal mail) by using the included registration form. Read the included "How to register via the author" file for instructions.

Remark (not included in the manual)
The progessbar will not show up if you are searching large directories. Reason: speed.
To know how much time the search will take (and to initialize the progressbar), FindText has to check first all the files it will have to search. This takes too much time on large volumes or directories. By not doing this first step the time is reduced by about 25%.The watch-cursor and the "infinite" progressbar shows you that FindText is doing its job.

Memory handling is updated and background tasks receive the correct timing.
FindText doesn’t ask the user a confirmation when she/he quits the program.
Every user of FindText is advised to update to version 1.3.6.

This important update fixes a bug in the search-routine.
What's new in version 1.3.3 ?
In version 1.3.3 you can choose to accept or not accept RETURN-characters in the search-text.
Many users were confused if they, by accident, entered a RETURN-character at the end of the search-text and by consequence FindText most of the time didn't find that text.
Now you can't enter RETURN-characters anymore if you don't change that preference.
Some other minor internal changes were made.

Version 1.3.2 fixes a bug in the file-filter.
What was new in version 1.3.1 ?
Version 1.3 sometimes forgets to save it's preferences in some situations. This bug is now fixed.

It's a FAT version: runs native both on a PowerMac and on a 68020 / 68030 / 68040 Mac.
It includes a file-filter. Now you can select which kind of files you want to search. Eg. search only in files of type TEXT or only files created after 1-1-95 and not larger than 300 kb.
